Denham Springs is a somewhat small city located in the state of Louisiana. With a population of 9,783 people and eight constituent neighborhoods, Denham Springs is the 48th largest community in Louisiana.
Located just a short drive from Baton Rouge, Denham Springs accommodates a wide range of tastes. The city’s Antique Village will leave the refined collector enraptured. The downtown cluster of stores offers low-cost items both down-home and decorative. In a different vein, the local Bass Pro Shops Outdoor World will beguile the rugged outdoorsman. The store’s floor area approximates three and a half football fields, featuring a boat showroom, a seafood restaurant and an unfathomably large selection of sporting goods, apparel and outdoor items. For those seeking relaxation, the historic Spring Park recalls the origins of Denham Springs. Within decades of its founding in 1828, the local mineral springs provided the setting for a health resort of the type that was popular in the 19th and early 20th centuries. The vibrant town center that grew from those origins has earned Denham Springs designation as one of Louisiana’s Main Street communities.
The percentage of adults in Denham Springs who are college-educated is close to the national average for all communities of 21.84%: 18.79% of the adults in Denham Springs have a bachelor’s degree or advanced degree.
Denham Springs has a Mardi Gras Parade held two Saturdays before Mardi Gras. The DSAMA hosts the Spring Festival on the last Saturday in April and the Fall Festival in October.
Here are some more of the best things to keep you busy:
Tubing at the Amite River
Tubing at the Amite River is one of the most popular activities in Denham Springs. Along the four-hour float trip, you can stop by sandbars to enjoy the sight. However, you still have to be extra careful when you fall out of the tube or pop it. Be extra careful because the part in Denham Springs has springs under, making the river rise above its average water level. You can book your tubing adventure via Tiki Tubing.
Denham Springs Antique Village
Denham Springs Antique Village had been widely affected by the recent flooding in the city. As of this writing, most shops have just reopened while others are still in the renovation process and expected to reopen by the end of the summer. The city’s Antique Village has been a favorite amongst tourists because it is one-stop shop. Food, coffee, sweets, books, potteries, and of course, antiques—there is plenty of stuff you can find.
Denham Springs Fair
As an annual event coming to its third year in 2018, the Denham Springs Fair is a family friendly affair with no cover charge. In the last two years, the fair was held in South Park where all-time favorite carnival rides are present. If you are not into rides, there is food and live bands all over the place.
